Job Title: Library Media Specialist Qualifications: Credentials, as required by the State of Oklahoma Reports to: Site Principal and/or Assistant Principal Performance Responsibilities: · Operates and supervises the library to which assigned. · Evaluates, selects, and requisitions new library materials. · Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials, and makes library materials available to supplement the instructional program. · Informs teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the library acquires. · Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of library resources. · Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials, and instructs teachers and students on use of the system. · Promotes appropriate conduct of students using library facilities. · Helps students to develop habits of independent reference work and to develop skill in the use of reference materials in relation to planned assignments. · Plans cooperatively with classroom teachers for the presentation and discussion of information skills developed through the content areas. · Arranges frequently-changing book-related displays and exhibits likely to interest the library's patrons. · Prepares and administers the library budget. · Supervises library assistants/aides in the performance of their duties. · Supervises the clerical routines necessary for the smooth operation of the library. · Supervises students in the use of and training for technological resources. · Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities. · Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Terms of Employment: Number of calendar days and compensation based on approved certified schedule and employee work calendars Evaluation: Evaluation by site principal and/or assistant principal in accordance with BOE Policy DNA Teacher Evaluation Physical Demands: · Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs. · Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. · Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather. · Ability to support and stabilize students with physical disabilities. |
